Celebrate Oktoberfest in style with these Smoked Oktoberfest Beer Bratwursts! Use your Pit Barrel and hanging accessories to elevate your Oktoberfest and WOW! a crowd!

(1) Pack of Bratwurst
(1) Pack of Hot Dog or Sausage Buns
Pit Barrel All-Purpose Pit Rub
(2) cans/bottles of beer (Oktoberfest beer or German Lager of your choice)
(2) onions, sliced
(2) bell peppers, sliced
Olive oil
Optional: sauerkraut, stone-ground mustard
Directions
Marinate Brats in beer for 6+ hours allowing the brats to soak up the beer and flavor.
Remove Brats from beer marinade, pat with paper towel and place inside of the Pit Barrel sausage and Brat Hanger.
Light the Pit Barrel Cooker according to lighting instructions.
Once coals are dumped, insert the hinged grate and Hang the Brats from the hanging rod on the open side of the hinged grate in the Pit Barrel Cooker. Cook for approx.. 45 minutes or until they have reached your preferred level of doneness.
Slice up onions and bell pepper, toss in olive oil and All-Purpose Pit Rub (approx. ½ tbsp unless you prefer more).
Place in the Pit Barrel All-Purpose Basket and Hang on the open side of the hinged grate in the Pit Barrel Cooker. Cook for approx.. 45 minutes or until they have reached your preferred level of doneness.
After about 30 minutes into the cook, take your hot dog/brat buns and place them face-side down (see video below for reference) and let toast until they reach your preferred level of crisp (approx.. 10 minutes).
Remove all items from the Pit Barrel, add sausage, cooked veggies and your favorite Oktoberfest toppings (such as sauerkraut and stone-ground mustard) to your bun.
