In addition to being perfect for large backyard cooks, the 22.5" PBX takes the ease of use the 18.5″ Pit Barrel Cooker® has made famous to the next level.  The 22.5" PBX will be right at home in a competition setting, catering for your large events, and even cooking for your restaurant.

It simply cooks some of the best food you’ve ever tasted, with no hassle, due to the 360º All-Round Heat Dynamics™. 

Whether you’re new to outdoor cooking or an expert trying to perfect your craft, Pit Barrel® will guarantee perfectly cooked food every time. This large charcoal grill and smoker package includes everything you need to be ready to cook out of the box. All you need is to follow the instructions and lighting process based on the type of cook (grilling or smoking). 

The 22.5" PBX has a much larger capacity than the 18.5" Pit Barrel Cooker® and is the largest porcelain coated drum cooker on the market.  Choose whether you want to cook 16-20 racks of ribs, 4 pork butts or shoulders, 4 full packer briskets, 12-16 chicken halves, 60+ party wings or 4 turkeys – the possibilities are endless.

Key Features:

• Amplifies the Heat. Cast Aluminum Hard Anodized GrillGrates act like a lens on top of any heat source. Our custom grill grates magnify and focus the grill’s heat converting it to infrared heat.
• Flare-Up Protection from the Bottom Plate. The underside and hole pattern of GrillGrates blocks flare-ups from engulfing food preventing charring and drying out.
• Conducts Heat More Efficiently. Our custom grill grates are made from hard-anodized aluminum, which conducts heat more efficiently than cast iron or stainless steel.

Care Instructions

 

While this will become unnecessary as your GrillGrate seasons with use, for the first couple of cooks, apply grill spray or canola oil (NOT Olive Oil) sparingly on the rails just before grilling. Avoid over-cleaning in the beginning, allowing the grate to season and become non-stick.

Hot Tip: For the first few cooks, the fattier the meat, the better to “break-in” the surface.

While it is warming up in your Pit Barrel®, wipe (don’t scrub) the GrillGrate with a standard grill brush or pad. A couple of times a year, give it a soak in hot soapy water and scrub with a sponge or brillo pad.

The proper use and care will ensure that your GrillGrate and Pit Barrel® have a long-lasting, flavorful relationship.
